New Movie Trailer Reel for May 2026

Thirteen trailers to play before a new movie.

Some new releases for May 2026

Watch The Trailer Reel HERE on YouTube.

Great before a new movie.

Every month we forget our contractual obligations until the last minute.

Specifically, this new movie trailer reel. Thanks, Cat Mate 0002 (Bootsey) for the reminder! Every month, we look at the full list of the month’s releases and pick out 13 trailers to check out. This month felt like more filler than usual, but we were surprised by a few trailers.

Out of the 13 trailers,

We’d Watch:

I Love Boosters: Boots Riley’s Sorry to Bother You was the best satire of the last decade. It’s been a long wait since his last movie in 2018.

Backrooms: The design looks like a Lumen’s (Severance) store room. Pair this with Exit 8 for a strange urban subterranean movie experience?

Maybe:

Speed Demon: The High Concept: The Exorcist on a Bullet Train. Has a ’90’s adventure disaster movie vibe. Runs risk of being massively stupid.

Hokum: Adam Scott’s in it. That’s a reason. Only trailer in reel that didn’t ruin the plot. Possibly a haunted house movie that gets trippy.

Affection: Horror SciFi. The trailer’s cagey about what the movie is about while still throwing plot at you. Clever or confusing?

Couple’s Weekend: The weakest maybe. The trailer spoils the movie. The cast may make it work.

Is God Is: Another 90’s Tarantino vibe. A road revenge movie with a solid cast. Looks like a fun Saturday afternoon movie.

NO:

Driver’s Ed: Are all teen comedies this terrible? When a character said in the trailer, “We’re not in Kansas anymore,” we knew this was a hard NO.

Obsession: Saw the trailer. Saw the movie.

My Best Friend’s Dead: Seriously, was this made in the ’90’s? Is Seth Green in it?

Deep Water: The most ’90’s of the entries. Old Actioneer Renny Harlin directs this probably AI-written plane crash movie. Why Aaron Eckhardt? Why Ben Kingsley? Why?

LifeHack: Another movie entirely on the computer screen. Talk about hack. Supposed to be a heist film. Any cleverness probably lies beneath a ton of slang.

Animal Farm: Was hoping for a more faithful version of the Orwell book than the CIA-directed 1950’s version. The trailer does not give us hope for the anti-imperialism, anti-capitalism message of the book.
